Has America Become A Fascist Nation?

As I was deciding what topics to address this week, I thought I'd check in and see what was being addressed on the liberal side of the political field. As I tuned into Air America Radio, I was very surprised to find that Randi Rhodes, a true dyed in the wool liberal, was speaking about America's alarming problem with fascism, in particular corporate fascism. I was surprised not because of the fact that an American would claim our government had become a fascist dictatorship, but because it was actually being discussed on mainstream radio.

Rhode's featured guest was author
Naomi Wolf, who was promoting her book, "The End of America: A Warning Letter To The Young Patriot." Wolf contests that President Bush is forcing America down the same road just as Hitler did Nazi Germany during WWII through a variety of similar laws, political maneuvering.

While I agree with Wolf's suggestions, which "bash-Bush" Rhodes wholeheartedly agree the problem did not begin, and will not end with Bush. The reality is that the root of the problem goes back further than that. Much further. To understand how the United States arrived at this point, we have to understand a bit of the symbolism and history of fascism.
Jordan Maxwell, author, lecturer and occult historian lays out the esoteric nature of fascism in ten minutes.

It has now been reported in the mainstream media that in 1933, a group of wealthy capitalists attempted to over through the presidency of Franklin D. Roosevelt, and install a fascist dictatorship. The capitalist conspirators tapped a decorated marine named
Major General Smedley Darlington Butler to lead the rogue army in the coup of Roosevelt. However, Butler, who had done the capitalists dirty work and helped overthrow governments in countries like Mexico and Haiti, proved to be the wrong man for the job, and exposed the plot. It's amazing what they don't teach you in school, eh?

Now let's get back to the present with Naomi Wolf. Wolf bases her claims upon a
10 point checklist, or guideline that tends to accompany fascist regimes, however author Laurence Britt has a 14 point checklist that is a bit more thorough. I will attempt to address these below with examples of pictures, video and audio clips that I've collected over the past year along with a bit of personal commentary. Let's dig in!

Fraudulent Elections - Sometimes elections in fascist nations are a complete sham. Other times elections are manipulated by smear campaigns against or even assassination of opposition candidates, use of legislation to control voting numbers or political district boundaries, and manipulation of the media. Fascist nations also typically use their judiciaries to manipulate or control elections.

Of course, at least half of the population of the US would agree that the
2000 election was stolen from Al Gore and given to the Bush Regime by the Supreme Court. The Bush-Kerry elections 2004 seemed to also have been given to Bush under questionable terms as well. The liberal media focused primarily on the problem of black box voting machines in 2004, which definitely was a problem, but they completely ignored a larger, much more significant part of the chicanery. George Bush and John Kerry are both members of a very powerful, influentialexclusive secret fraternal order called Skull and Bones, which has produced US presidents and contains some of Americas elite dating back many generations. So just like in horse racing, there's no better way to win a race than to own all the horses, or at least the ones most likely to win. By the way, make a mental note of Skull and Bones.

Rampant Cronyism and Corruption - Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. It is not uncommon in fascist regimes for national resources and even treasures to be appropriated or even outright stolen by government leaders.

The Iraq war under Bush and the war in Kosovo under Clinton illustrates this perfectly. In fact there is a common thread that links these two wars and these two presidents together: Halliburton. Bill Clinton gave Halliburton it's first no-bid contract with Dick Cheney as CEO, and wife Lynn Cheney on the board of directors.

Obsession with Crime and Punishment - Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses and even fore go civil liberties in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist nations.

Torture by electric shock was actually invented by the Nazis, but now, electric shock is a perfectly acceptable tool of law enforcement, under the guise of a "non-lethal weapon." It is used one of two ways: as a method of subduing a person that resists arrest, or a for the control and torture of a subject. Remember that college student who pleaded "don't tase me bro" from a few months ago? Remember what he asked Senator John Kerry that caused him to get tasered? If you answered Skull and Bones, give yourself two points!

Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts - Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts is openly attacked, and governments often refuse to fund the arts.

Religion and Government are Intertwined - Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed to the government's policies or actions.

Most people think that since Hitler tortured and killed his political enemies, and groups that he deemed undesirable to society, that he wasn't a religious person. The truth is, in reality, one of the reasons why Hitler was so popular with conservative Christians in Germany was precisely because he promised to restore traditional morality. He opposed abortion, homosexuality, pornography, and just about everything else conservative Christians complained were ruining modern Germany. He himself may or may not have practiced what he preached, but he was able convince the German people that he was a practicing Christian, and that he was doing God's work. Does that rhetoric sound familiar?

Obsession With National Security Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses

Point number seven is very telling, and is probably the main reason why researchers began making the connection between Nazi Germany and America. On Feb. 27, 1933, the Nazi regime burned down it's own Parliament, blamed it's political enemy, Communist Poland and used the incident as a pretext to invade Poland. Have you heard that story, or a story that is similar before? If not I suggest you read the following article very carefully.

Controlled Mass Media - Sometimes the media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common.

This topic is very deep and I will be devoting many entries to address this issue. Let me just say at this point, it might be better if you seriously limit your viewing or just disconnect your cable altogether. And whatever you do, don't watch tv news.

Supremacy of the Military - Even when there are widespread domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized.

Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause
The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial, ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc.

This one is a gimmie, but let's go over it anyways. Ironically, the United States rallied together against fascism in WWII, against Communism during the Cold War, and now in the 21st Century our great nation is in danger of being taking by the terrorists. Terrorists meaning Arabs, radical Muslims, radical Islam, Al Qaeda, the Taliban, or Islamofascist depending on who you ask. To the average America, they are all one in the same, even though the terms all have different distinct meanings.

Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights - Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of "need." The people tend to look the other way or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long incarcerations of prisoners, etc.

It has been said by many researchers that the CIA's use of torture by was of secret prisons has become so widespread that there is a big push by lawmakers to redefine the definition of torture altogether. It is in my opinion that the Abu Gharib photos were purposely leaked because there were far worse horrors that were really going on and these photos were just the tip of the iceberg. Shows like '24' that feature torture in every episode, are simply just tools to convince Americans to accept torture as a necessary evil.
